About TXD Murals

Hi, I’m Erika Kataoka- Walter, a multidisciplinary artist based in Ottawa with a deep love for street art, nature, and cultural storytelling. My journey began at a young age when I fell in love with graffiti and hip-hop culture — bold colors, expressive lettering, and art that lives in public space. I painted my first mural at the Ottawa House of PainT hip-hop festival and knew instantly I had found my passion.
Since then, I’ve been dedicated to growing my skills and exploring new mediums. My work blends graffiti influences with fine details, line work, and floral elements — often inspired by both nature and my Japanese heritage. I'm especially interested in incorporating traditional Japanese motifs and themes into modern mural art as a way to explore identity and cultural connection.
I work with a mix of spray paint, brushwork, and airbrush, and I bring a thoughtful, layered approach to every project. Alongside painting, my experience in the car wrapping and signage industry has given me the technical skills to install large-scale vinyl murals and wallpaper, offering a more affordable and flexible option for interior spaces.

I’ve had the opportunity to paint professionally in Japan and have contributed to several public and personal projects, including House of PainT 2022 and 2023. Most recently, I graduated from Algonquin College’s Business Management and Entrepreneurship program, where I deepened my understanding of how to grow creative work into sustainable business.
Whether you're looking for a one-of-a-kind mural, a vinyl installation, or a collaboration rooted in creative expression — I’d love to connect.
